Achieving continued accreditation is a complex and ongoing process, requiring planning, evaluation, and reflection. Since 2015, the LCME has emphasized the importance of continuous quality improvement (CQI) as a proactive method to promptly identify and address potential concerns. Effective medical education hinges on CQI to enhance patient outcomes, faculty satisfaction, curricular innovation, while recognizing resource challenges and conflicting institutional priorities. CQI is key to early detection of areas prone to slippage and identifying opportunities within the health care environment, technology, and learner needs.
