Research experiences for medical students are becoming a crucial component of medical education. Engaging in research equips students with essential skills and produces scholarly products that are becoming key differentiators for competitive residency programs. Successful implementation of medical student research programs, however, pose challenges and barriers often related to institutional demographics. The goal of this session is to provide insights into how Texas medical schools are addressing the growing demand for research experience among their students. This interactive session will include a series of presentations and group activities from panelists representing multiple institutions (new vs. established) and locations (rural/community-based to urban).
